He later studied business at Zhejiang University and Ningbo University before settling in Shenzhen, where he now runs Tequila Coyote’s restaurant in Shekou’s Sea World. He is also an actor and stand-up comedian.“I’m from the coast of Mexico. It’s called Colima,” Neto said. “Take a look at the globe, my hometown is right on the other side of the Earth from Shenzhen.”

Shenzhen’s warm climate and coastal setting make him feel at home, while the Mexican food served at his restaurant brings a taste of his hometown to the city. “All the food tastes like my mom’s food,” he said.Neto takes pride in introducing authentic Mexican cuisine to local diners. His restaurant has received two recognitions from the Mexican Government certifying its food as authentic Mexican cuisine.“I have an amazing Chinese team,” he said. “Having a good Chinese team in the kitchen allows me to be creative, so Chinese people can enjoy more of the Mexican side.”Neto also worked in Beijing and Shanghai. But he eventually decided that Shenzhen was the right place for him.“Shenzhen is a top-tier city where your life gets easier with technology,” he said.“Shenzhen is green, clean.”He also met his wife, whom he describes as “the most beautiful Russian woman in the world” in Shenzhen. “This is our home, and we love it,” he said.
